The very first day i got in the field we contacted a really awesome family and we have been teaching them ever since. They have to young boys who were really progressing towards baptism and i truly truly love them! We went this week after nnot seeing them for a while to talk about there upcoming baptism and the mom told us that they had talked to there preacher about baptism and said something because she told us they cant recieve the lessons anymore.. I was so crushed. we had put in so much time and effort into that family and all there preacher had to do was say one thing! We testified stronger than ever that God has the answer and man doesent and that she needs to pray about it. I dont feel like she has ever prayed without us there...
The old couple we have been teaching were doing good. I went on tuesday and we gave a blessing and all was so very awesome until me and elder parra returned saturday to stop by and there was a black ribbon on their door. We didnt know exactly what it meant so we asked there neighbor and she said that Hermana Sira had died... We just sat there speachless for about 6 minutes.... still cant belive it. Manuel hasent been home since and we feel like he is gonna move in with his brother.. Mom its so crushing and my faith took a blow.. however i know god has a plan. i dont now what it is but i know he has one and thats were we ecxersicve faith. She always called us her kids and i honestly feel like i have an angel watching over me now!
Other than that nothing insane happend this week. To lighten up the mood, this week we were walking around the market when all of the sudden i looked up as this man who was ABSOLUTELY BUCK NAKED was running right toward me and my comp! Elder P. had his head down and only saw his feet and turned around and couldnt belive what he saw haha Got to love Peru!! He took acouple more laps around the market before the cops came and got him :)
I just want to end with a challenge that this week when you are stressed no matter where you are, go outside and take 5 deep breathes then offer a prayer of gratitud to the lord and co9unt your many blessings! I promis you it helps!
Love you all!!
Elder Noel
Thank you for your letter dad! We got mushed out there! haha i hate thinking about it so im not gonna! haha thanks for your advice i really need it. I dont like complaining but i need advice so here goes.
I love my comp to death and he is like a brother but right now he is really trunky. He Is super girl crazy and spends about an hour some nihgts talking to the sisters in our district. They text throughout the day as well. He Normally sleeps in until about 8 and then starts getting ready and hates comp study so we never do that. Sometimes we go to members homes and he will just watch TV for about an hour and its so hard to get the family to help us with referalls and all that. Everyone loves him here so its normal i guess. I dont know what to do. Transfers are next week so im just thinking about waiting it out.. All of our numbers are plumeting and theres just no enthusiasm for work... I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO! haha it drives me crazy sometimes! Advice? I love you dad!!
Elder Noel
Cole,
Read when he watches tv, study when he's sleeping. Talk to the members while he's wasting time. Get up on time. Get ready. Be a missionary. YOU were called to swerve a mission. You weren't called together with your comp. you were set apart on your own. When you get a chance, talk to your Mission President, but try to do what you can. Wes had a companion when he first got to the mission where he had to get up and study and get ready and wait by the door until his companion finally rolled out of bed and they left around 11 in the morning. It was really hard for him, but he just kept being consistent and stuck it out.
It's a good lesson for you how not to act when you are a senior companion. You're doing great Cole. we love you we are proud of you.
Love, Dad
thank you dad!! Thats great advice its just hard to do when theres no support ya know? And i dont want to tell Parra how i feel because i dont want to ruin things a week before transfers. But i will just keep pressing on and trying me best. Thank yoou so much dad! now onto my second problem and i just want to say it and dont want you to be dissapointed.
I havent been the greatest missionary out here dad. I reread a talk about being a consecrated missonary and i realized how much i had been taking from the savior and not giving my all to him. i feel like i have wasted 4 months of a mission to be honest. I havent always got up on time but im usually ready for personal study and i realized we havent been doing stuff how missionarys should. I feel like i failed my father in heaven. and now he is punishing me for it with the recent stuff that happend to our investigators. I decided to change its just hard with Elder Parra. Im really llooking foward to the transfer as a time to begin otra vez. I know i shouldnt be so hard on my self but i also know that im not here for me. im here for the lord. and its time to act like it. heart, might, mind ad soul.
Elder Noel
We are coƱming back later so if i dont respond dont worry i will later!!
Mom,
Im doing good mom. This week was probly one of the most heartwrenching weeks of my mission to be honest. I dont feel like she has ever prayed without us there.... I feel like i failed and could have done more..
Elder parra is pretty trunky and its hard to work hard but i dont like complaining.
anyways mom i hope we can talk but if we cant just know that i love you and the family so very much. Abby is Abby and will grow haha Gabe needs to find these things out for himself all you can do is guide him and if he plays with fire he will get burned but will also learn. Hayden needs to shut all life for the next 2 years haha
yah 4 months thats crazy to think about but i am also having some feelings of failure like ive wasted this time mom.... idk its hard for me. Im pressing foward and working but i can do more and god knows it and i know it.
I love you mom and pray for you allways thanks for everything!!
Elder Noel
